18/11/07 - Hindmarsh Island Triathlon
Today saw the first ever Hindmarsh Island Club Triathlon. The weather and course were reportedly excellent and 21 Tribesters turned out for the competition. There was strong competition throughout the long course event with Rob first out of the water and Emily in hot pursuit. However, Mark B put in a strong ride and then a blinder of a run to take the out the race in 1:03:12. The short course saw a great comeback from Carl who, despite a less than desirable lead-up to the event, took the lead from start to finish. Well done to all those completing their first triathlon and thanks to all the volunteers that helped out today.

23/03/07.
The time trials last night saw a record number of riders - 19 - turn out to try for a final P.B. in the last session of the season. Wind conditions dropped right off during the ride to calm, but the humidity from the hot day remained and this dragged everyone's times back on the last ride! The exception being Hayley Walker who clocked the last P.B. of the season in the 10km circuit, 24:03! Danny Schaffner rode his first time trial, but went slightly astray on the way round, while Greg N. and Russell had a final duel for second best time with Greg leading the way in on the night, but leaving Russell still holding second place for the season. At the end of the day, Scott claimed best male time for 2006/07 with 28:46, Lynette, best female time 33:10, and in the 10km Ian 22:10 and Asha 31:35. Well done to all who came out and supported the time trials this season. We drew record attendance numbers all the way through and this certainly served to keep everyone's interest and level competition at an all time high.
Afterwards we went along to the Oakbank Hotel and kicked back with a few drinks and a meal.
Congratulations to Jason Bartram who recently competed in the ITU junior world championships qualification event in QLD. The event went for 3 days and he ended up placing 17th in his group. Well done, he's certainly come a long way in the last few years!
Coming up on the 1st of April is the Australian Ironman at Port Macquarie. This year we have 4 members competing; Scott Green, Ryan Milton, Peter Franklyn and Griff Weste. They must be in the last stages of preparation now and we wish them all the best!
Don't forget this weekend the State Championships aquathon is on at Westlakes, should be great event. We've also got a few members swimming in the Master's 4km and 2km swim on Sunday.
Daylight saving ends this weekend keep an eye on the training schedules as the times will change on some events over the next few weeks!!
18/03/07.
Thirty one members of the club turned out today to contest the club championships at Woodside. We had 25 in the sprint, 4 in the short, and 2 in the mini.
Several of the newer members really lifted up the level of the competition. Rob Hutchings and Gavin Atherton recorded the two fastest swims of the day with Rob on 5:19 and Gavin on 5:30. In the bike Scott recorded the fastest split on 24:39 with Greg Nicholson second on 27:09. In the run Scott 13:28 and Greg 14:20. In the female section, Hayley Williams clocked fastest swim time with 6:17, and Heather Johnson clocked fastest bike 30:29, and fastest run 16:30. The new course that Mark set up was a great success and the general consensus was A1! Well done to Mark for all the work he put into running the triathlon!
Age group winners were: Short course; 10-12 Ian Cox and Eleahn Georg-Dent. Sprint; 13-16 Lachlan Ambrose, 20-29 Kevin Colla & Heather Johnson, 30-39 Scott Green & Tara Manning, 40-49 Mark Bloomfield, 50-59 Andrew Loose, 60+ Lin Green.
It was also great to see so many supporters who turned up to help with the marshalling and running of the event. Afterwards we all enjoyed a great brunch of pancakes, eggs, bacon, fruit salad and juice. Thanks to everyone who came along and supported the event!
This coming week will see the last sessions of the time trials and the run sessions, and will be finished off with a meal on Thursday night at the Oakbank Hotel at around 7:30pm. Please contact Digby so that he can make a booking with the numbers! Results and splits are up under Results/Club Results.
Lost and Found: Someone picked up an extra pair of goggles today, if you find them, could you please get in touch with Scott or the Clohesy's.
15/03/07.
We had another great turnout tonight for the second of last of the time trials. Seventeen cyclists rode in what turned out to be fairly average conditions, with a bit of humidity thrown in on top - result of which there were some fairly average rides. Two riders however had quite a duel around the last section of the circuit, which ended up giving them both P.B.'s for the season. Dan came in on 35:15 and Tara on 38:05 - nothing like a bit of competition to spur you along! Next week will be the last time trial and afterwards we will be heading back to the Oakbank Hotel at around 7:30pm for a meal to wind up the series. Everyone is welcome to come along, it'll be the end of the run sessions as well!!
This weekend on Sunday the club championships are on at Woodside at the town pool - there's lots of people preparing for this event - it's always quite a drawcard, so don't miss out. Afterwards there will be a club breakfast provided - pancakes a la Digby and eggs and bacon to follow. If you can manage to bring along some fruit etc. that would be great as well. Details on the calendar. 9:00am start, please make sure you get there before this, so we can get everyone set up.!
In the sponsorship area we have a new club sponsor. Sean Murphy from POD2 - our Clayton Bay sponsor - has branched out on his own and started a new clinic on Glen Osmond road called 'Heal Podiatry'. Sean has always been a great supporter and sponsor of our club and the sport of triathlon in S.A.
13/03/07.
The Victor Harbour triathlon results are now up under State Results. We had a great turnout with a total of 23 tribesters competing; 12 in the Olympic distance and 11 in the Short. Scott placed 2nd in the open male, with Dave Taylor 2nd and Lin Green 1st in their age groups. In the short distance the Cox family did well with both Ian and Bruce placing 1st in their age groups. Several tribesters were racing Olympic distance format for the first time; Daniel Schaffner, Daniel Reeves and Damon Dungey. Tara Manning made a return to triathlon in the short course.
Don't forget the club triathlon - club championships - are on this Sunday at Woodside; details on the calendar.
In other news of note looks like we'll be seeing a couple of little tribelets getting around in September! Congratulations to the Ketteridge's and the Colla's!
8/03/07.
Time trial conditions tonight were similar to last weeks, but with a stiffer head wind factor coming up through the vineyards, which dragged everyone's time back. The exception being Leonie who cruised in on 47:29 to take 1:21 of her season P.B!! Attendance was way down on previous nights, p'haps the coming Victor Harbour triathlon this Sunday kept everyone home! Out riding were; Des, Carl, Alana, Steve, Russell and Tara who completed her first time trial of the season in 38:55 - great to see her back on the bike again!
As mentioned the Olympic distance Victor triathlon is on this Sunday the 11th, good luck to all who are racing - it's always a great event, one of the highlights of the year, and always draws a big crowd!
The following week after that, on the 18th, we have the club championships coming up at Woodside - should be a great event as well, with a pancake post race brekky thrown in! Make sure you get all your details into Mark, he's been working hard setting up a new course for the day.
5/03/07.
In the BRW Corporate Cup which was held yesterday the club team entered in the sprint race took out first place with a time of 30:02, which was 3:51 up on the next team in!!
Andrew Loose:swim, Scott Green;bike and Mark Bloomfield;run
1/03/07.
Conditions tonight at the time trials were not quite as good as last weeks, however this did not stop the record breaking that we've been seeing during the last few weeks.
The wind was at a slight cross tail wind down to Charleston which created reasonably strong head wind up through the vineyards. Out of the 13 riders that turned out there were 5 new times set with two of them being best ever rides! Russell once again set the pace with a second consecutive best ever time of 30:34. He dropped :29 seconds off last week's time which places him in second place and 1:48 behind the lead time held by Scott. Andrew Ketteridge rode to another best ever with a time of 33:33. Greg Nicholson came in with a P.B. of 30:49, Bruce a P.B. on 37:54 and Asha in the 10km with 21:35. With just three time trials to go, no one is letting up and we'll be seeing a few more times go down before the season is over.
In the run session at Laratinga wetlands on Wednesday night, over a 6.5km run, Des came in first on 33:27, followed in by Brett and Jack Chitty. The handicaps points table is being led by Mark Bloomfield on 380, Carl on 340, Brett on 280. Next week the run session returns to Oakbank racecourse at 6:30pm.
This weekend the Corporate teams triathlon will be held at Westlakes. The club has entered a crack team with Andrew Loose in the swim , Scott on the bike and Mark Bloomfield in the run! Leonie has also entered a corporate relay team - good luck to all!!
26/02/07.
The Euston triathlon held yesterday attracted a strong field of contenders from S.A.. N.S.W. and Victoria. In the elite section Scott placed 5th, Jason 11th and Helen 6th, while in the age group category, both Dave Taylor and Trevor placed 1st. Sounds like Jason was also involved in a nasty stack up in the bike leg, so he did well to race on!
In the swim on Saturday Helen placed 2nd female.
22/02/07.
There were 17 cyclists out at the time trials tonight, equal to the record turnout of 8/2/07. Wind conditions were almost still, enabling 7 of the riders to set new times on the course. Russell set a best ever of 31:03 and Ian in the 10km set a best ever as well on 22:10. Others who set new P.B.'s were; Asha on the 10km 21:45, and in the 20km; Des 39:15, Hayley 38:15, Bruce 38:04, Kevin 33:16. This time it was Dan's turn to get a flat tyre just outside of Charleston. Next week the time trials start up time will revert back to 6:15pm, so that there is time to make the ride back to Woodside while it's still light. There will be four more sessions in March.
18/02/07.
The weather for the State championships Kingston triathlon this morning dropped to around the mid 30's instead of the predicted scorching 40 degrees. Results in so far for tribesters who made the trip down are; Scott 3rd OM, Greg 8th OM, Dave 1st, Trevor 1st in the Olympic distance; and Helen 1st and Sue [postition unknown at this stage] in the short course. Should have more definite info later on this week.
15/02/07.
The times trials tonight saw a reversal of the record setting conditions of the past two weeks. A head wind that seemed to cover about three quarters of the course and the heat factor slowed every one down quite considerably. Out of the 12 cyclists who turned out, Kevin Colla on his second ride of the season, and after an absence of 11 weeks was the only one who came to close to a P.B. when he came within :16 seconds of his previous time. Must have been a MTB night! New rider to the time trials Hayley Walker tried out the 10km course and completed the ride in 25:20. Mark B. and Russell had a rather hot and sweaty finish when they rode neck to neck for the last half km - not sure who got the whisker there - great for the spectators!
Others out riding were; Digby, Andrew, Alana, Lachlan, Asha, Ian, Bruce, and Lynette. We have 5 sessions left with the last one being 22/3/07.
Good luck to everyone who is heading on down to Kingston this weekend, hopefully the weather will be a bit cooler on the coast!
Also coming up this Sunday, Ian hits the big 13 !!!
Hope you have a great day Ian - ''HAPPY BIRTHDAY''
11/02/07.
The last series of the JT Cycles Gatti triathlons today saw a total of 22 Tribe members competing in cool, and very windy, blustery conditions. The swim leg by all accounts was quite choppy. We had 12 in the Challenge where Jason won the JEM. In the Tinman, Allan, Steve and Gary Belder claimed first places, while in the Mini, all Tribe competitors placed 1st.; Zac, Catherine, Asha, Ty and Eleahn.
Series winners were; Mark Bloomfield M35-39, Dave Taylor M55-59, Catherine Clohesy F10-11, Zac Georg-Dent M10-11 and Eleahn Georg-Dent F10-12. Junior Encouragement awards went to both Daniel and Ben Clohesy. Next up is the Olympic distance triathlon at Kingston this coming weekend. Details on the calendar.
8/02/07.
Conditions tonight for the time trials were not quite as good as last week's, but the P.B. times still kept tumbling. Out of a record field for the season - 17 cyclists - there were 4 best ever P.B.'s and 6 P.B's set. Greg, Carl, Andrew K., and Russell all broke the magic barrier tonight, while Hayley [new bike], Des, Alana, Wally, Martin, and Scott all crossed the line with season P.B.'s Andrew Loose had the misfortune to get a flat just out of Charleston in the first lap.
Daylight saving finishes on 25th March, so that leaves only 5 more time trial sessions to go. The way the season has come together in the new year it's quite possible that we'll still see quite a few more records being set! This weekend will see the last of the Gatti triathlons being held at Westlakes. Results are now up for the Sam White triathlon. We had 12 tribesters competing in what were very hot conditions. Lin Green placed 1st in his age group, he's having a great season this year, and Mark Bloomfield placed 2nd in his age group and 27th o'all, another tribester having a good season as well! Daniel and Ben Clohesy must have had a close race as they placed equal 4th in their age group! Scott placed 2nd in the open males and in the short distance; Catherine placed 3rd and Eleahn 4th.
5/02/07.
There are some preliminary results up for the Sam White Memorial triathlon that was held 4/02/07. Looks like the heat 41.2 degrees kept quite a few away!.
Results are up under Results/State Results
1/02/07.
At long last the conditions for setting P.B.'s in the time trials has turned and tonite was the second time trial in a row where conditions were at an optimum for setting fast course times. Tonight out of a field of 10 we had 7 best ever P.B.'s and 2 P.B.'s for this season. Best ever P.B.'s went to Greg, Allan, Carl, Lachlan, Mark, Andrew L. in the 20km, and Ian in the 10km. Bruce and Andrew K. had season P.B.'s while Digby and Alana just missed out, and Ty Manning from Stirling completed his first time trial in 36:37. Russell had the misfortune to blow a front tyre while warming up! Biggest movers were Greg in the 20km with a giant reduction of 2:45!! and Ian in the 10km with 2:18 off his ride of last week! How much better can we get than this?
27/01/07.
The Gatti Australia Day triathlon saw a record turnout of competitors racing in the three events. Our club had a total of 22 members racing - 9 in the Challenge, 8 in the Tinman and 5 in the Mini. In the Challenge Scott placed 2nd and Helen 3rd in the open division, while in the age group Lin claimed a first place. In the Mini both Catherine and Zac claimed line honours. Donna staged a return to racing in the Tinman, where she placed 3rd. The Staska brothers also made their first foray into competitive racing when they raced in the Mini, where Sam placed 2nd and Seth 3rd. Results are up under Results/State Results
25/01/07.
We had a small group of dedicated cyclists turnout tonight for the time trials; Des, Haley, Alana and Wally in the 20km trial and Ian in the 10km trial. Conditions were quite favourable as there were 4 P.B.'s set. Des took 1:23 off his time, Wally 1:15 and Haley a whopping 5:42 - must have been that break away training!
Alana came within :40secs of her P.B, and in the 10km Ian shaved :19 seconds off his P.B.
Several other club cyclists also came out for a pre warm up ride for tomorrow's Gatti Australia Day triathlon.
14/01/07.
We had a great turnout today for the club triathlon at the Woodside town pool. In the sprint distance we had 16 competing, 3 in the short and 2 in the mini. The swim was broken up into two waves for the sprint and the overall winner was Scott on 42:30, 2nd Greg N. on 46:37 and 3rd Andrew L. on 46:44. Helen was first female with a time of 50:10.
Fastest swim split; Andrew L. 5:26, bike split; Scott 21:37 and run; Scott 14:56. First in over the line was Andrew K. just :03 seconds in front of Dan. In the short distance Catherine was first in on 24:05 and Joe second on 29:03.
In the mini the Staska brothers Sam and Seth had a close battle over the whole course and I'm not quite sure which one placed first in that race - a bit of double vision there!
Our next club triathlon is in March on the 18th and it will be the club championships. Owing to the amount of other triathlon activity in February we won't be having a February tri. This Tuesday we will be meeting in town to watch the start of the Tour down Under. Meeting details are on the calendar!
Thanks to all who helped out today with the triathlon in marshalling and setting up the course!
11/01/07.
Sixteen cyclists turned out tonite for the time trials. Wind conditions were a cross tail wind to Charleston a with head wind up across the vineyards. Russell set a best ever P.B. Des set a season P.B. of 42:33, and several other riders came close to setting season P.B.'s. Lachlan had a great first lap and then got a flat tyre near the end of the trial putting a end to his hopes of a new P.B.
New member Haley Williams clocked 45:32 in her first time trial, and Carl in his first time trial of the season clocked 44:32. Ian did the 10km course and came in on 24:49. Results are up under Results/Club Results/Cycling Time Trials
Don't forget the club tri on this Sunday at Woodside and the week after the club - Tour Down Under dates. Details on the calendar.
7/01/07.

We have a club triathlon coming up this weekend on the 14th Sunday at Woodside - details on the calendar.
4/01/07.
The heat took its toll on riders tonite at the time trials. The wind as has been normal for this season came in with a slight headwind on the down leg to Charleston.
Steve Dell rode his first time trial of the season in 39:09 and new Canadian member Greg Nicholson clocked an impressive first time of 32:37, despite the heat and after riding up from town! Others riding were; Asha, Des, Andrew K., Lynette, Mark, and Russell. No P.B.'s
From next week on, until the end of February, the time trials will now start at 6:45pm. This should allow everyone to escape most of the next two months hot weather! Please make sure that you arrive around 6:30, so that we can kick off right on the dot!!
2/01/07.
The Aquathon held at the weekend had a low turnout, but was well represented by Tribe members, who participated in the, Elite, Long, Medium and Short courses.
Jason Bartram was first JEM, while in the age groups; Trevor Skewes was 1st in the long course, Daniel and Ben 1st and 2nd in the medium, while Catherine and Eleahn placed 1st and 2nd in their age groups in the short course. Also racing were Steve and Kay. Times and placings are up under Results/State Results.
Race conditions were not the best - hot and windy!
Next weekend there is a Gatti triathlon on at Westlakes - details on the calendar.
29/12/06.
Only four cyclists turned out last night for the time trials to ride in what were quite favourable conditions. A slight headwind on the down leg gave riders a steady tail wind push up through the vineyards, result of which Lachlan rode a best ever P.B. of 34:33 and Leonie a P.B. of 48:50. Des, just back from New Zealand rode his first season's time trial in 44:15 and new member from Canada, Heather Johnson clocked a first ride of 35:32. The Sam White Memorial Aquathon is on tomorrow at Glenelg, check out the calendar for details. Time trial results are up under Results/Club Results/Cycling Time Trials.
21/12/06.
The forecast weather of thunderstorms and heavy rain reduced the turnout of cyclists tonight down to 7 competitors. At the beginning of the time trial it looked like those that had turned up were going to strike a lucky break with the weather, but by the time the last cyclist - Russell - had left Woodside the rain was falling quite steadily and continued for the rest of the time trial. Riders reported that there was a strong head wind on the leg down to Charleston. As a result times were markedly up on previous trials with no records being set! Out time trialling were; Asha, Digby, Lachlan, Andrew K., Alana, Mark and Russell.
The Tribe triathlon club would like to wish every one a "Merry Xmas' and a 'Happy New Year'. Have a great break over the next few days, travel safely and take it easy!! To those participating in the 'biggest losers time trial' take it extra easy with that knife and fork, what goes on has to come off!
18/12/06.
The J.T. Cycles / Gatti triathlon on the weekend had a record turnout for the last triathlon of 2006. The Tribe had a huge turnout as well, with 19 members competing in the three events. Jason Bartram continued his form with 1st in the JEM and 2nd overall - on his way to a great season! In the Tinman Alan and Ashlea placed 1st in their respective age groups, while in the Mini, Zac, Leonie and Catherine all placed 1st in their respective age groups. Times and placings are up under Results/State Results.
14/12/06.
The misty wet conditions that arrived in the hills this afternoon almost put a stop to anyone turning out for the time trials. Russell turned up with all the equipment necessary for a serious crack at the times, but decided that with the weather conditions as they were it was best to drop the idea for this week. Shortly afterwards Greg arrived, and the weather behaved itself enough for him to set a new best ever P.B. on the 10km course of 22:41. Conditions for his ride when he started were almost perfect, with a dry road and a slight tailwind down to Charleston. One rider and one best ever P.B! Congratulations must go to Ryan Milton who competed over at Shepparton last weekend in the half ironman. The temperature was reported at around 41 degrees and a lot of competitors burnt out badly in the run. Ryan came sixth in the open male division in a time of 4:13:46 - well done!
The photo album has been updated with photos from the Clayton Bay triathlon. Look under Tribe Extras.

The club's Xmas triathlon which was held at the Woodside town pool this morning had a great turnout with 21 competing and probably the same number again supporting. There were 14 competitors in the sprint, 4 in the short and 3 in the mini.
The sprint was staged in 3 waves with Andrew Loose clocking fastest time of the day in 46:40, Mark B. 2nd in 47:40 and Helen third in 50:50. Damon Dungey turned out with his family for his annual triathlon and put in a great race, as did Griff who is still winding down from his victory at Busselton. The Clohesy boys got off to a great start in the swim and then? - that's a story for another day! In the short, it was a father and son duel where Bruce triumphed in 23:30, followed in by Ian on 25:23.
Racing in the mini were; Keenan, Curtis and Ryder. The triathlon was followed by a pancake brekky with bacon and eggs expertly cooked by Bruce and Digby, and following this there was a random draw. Don't forget next Sunday 17th is the Gatti triathlon - details are up on the calendar. Thanks to race director Mark Taylor and everyone else who turned out today to help in setting up the race and marshalling. Results are up under Results/Club Results.
7/12/06.
The time trials tonight would have to go down as the night of P.B.'s. Even though the wind didn't appear any more favourable than normal, 7 P.B.'s were set out of a field of 10 cyclists, with 4 best ever P.B.'s being recorded to; Helen 34:09, Lynette a new female course record on 33:10, Andrew L. on 32:00, and Russell on 31:38. Best time gain went to Daniel with an 1:49 improvement to 35:18 on his second ride. Others with P.B.'s were, Asha and Digby. Alana Haansbergen came out for her first ride of the season and clocked a respectable first time of 35:18. Also out riding were, Andrew K. and Mark B.
Don't forget this Sunday, the club's Xmas triathlon on at the Woodside town pool, pancake and BBQ brekky to follow - details on the calendar!

A small group of tribesters raced in the Coomealla State Sprint Distance Championships triathlon today. Jason Bartram showed great form with a repeat of his Clayton Bay win; 1st place in the JEM's, with a time of 1:01:38. In the open male, Scott placed 3rd, Dave Taylor 1st in his age group, while in the teams, Team X [Helen Roach] came 1st and Team X [Swain] came 3rd in the female teams section.
Over in Busselton, Griff has cemented his return to form by winning his age group in 10:34:59!! and Trevor raced as well, but at this stage I haven't been able to find his results.
Times for Busselton and Coomealla are up under Results/National and State.
30/11/06.
After a day of hot northerly winds followed by a couple of thunderstorms, the weather cleared up nicely, just in time for the time trials to start. The wind once again came in with the usual crosswind going down to Charleston, and cyclists still had to battle up through the vineyards. There were three P.B.'s clocked, all yellows - no whites tonight! The Ketteridge twins were in fine form with Asha setting a new P.B. of 39:52 and Andrew on 34:34, while Leonie on her second ride for the season wiped 2:02 off, to clock 49:47!
Dan Reeves and Kevin Colla both rode their first time trials for the year, with Dan coming in on 37:07 and Kevin warming up on 34:08. Lynette and Mark also turned out to ride. Coomy is on this weekend, good luck to everyone who is travelling up!
28/11/06.
Results for the Gatti tri last Sunday are up under Results/State Results. We had 12 tribesters competing, including new member Daniel Reeves who clocked a first up time of 1:07:37 in the Challenge- not a bad start to the season! The International Results are up as well where Griff and Peter Franklyn both had great races in Canberra at the World Long course championships - Griff is now World Long course champion of his age group!! I guess that beats coming second at the Hawaiian Ironman!
The Training calendar has now been updated with all the new training sessions for the Eastern Suburbs and the Hills. We now have training sessions on every day except Sunday, so, no excuses for not being able to find a training venue!!
23/11/06.
The time trials tonight got off to a good start with 12 cyclists turning out. Wind conditions were similar to last week, another cross wind, but not as strong. P.B.'s were set by; Asha, Digby, Helen, Scott and Andrew K. Andrew Loose set a best ever P.B. of 32:17. Martin Risbey, Leonie and Adam came out for their first time trials of the season. Other cyclists were; Greg, Lynette, and Russell.
Coming up this Sunday will be the first of the J.T. Cycles Gatti triathlons - details on the calendar. Also on the calendar are the dates of the club's triathlons which will be held at the Woodside town pool.
19/11/06.
The Clayton Bay triathlon held today was a resounding success. The weather conditions were perfect for triathlon;, water temperature 19.7 degrees - flat calm, minimum wind on the bike and run legs and just starting to heat up by the end of the event. Overall we had about 124 individuals racing and 4 teams. From the Tribe we had 16 tribesters in the event who all raced well, with Jason Bartram taking out 1st place in the junior elite section - well done!! In the male elite; Scott placed 3rd, Ryan 5th and Jarrad 9th. In their respective age groups, David Taylor and Symen Kromkamp placed 1st and 2nd, Trevor Skewes 2nd, Andrew Loose 2nd, Mark Bloomfield 2nd, Steve G-D 8th, Kay 6th, Lachlan 2nd, Kevin 5th and Adam 2nd. In the short course, Ben and Daniel placed 2nd and 3rd. Many thanks to race director Brett Hart and his committee for the hours of work they put into getting the Clayton Bay tri up and running and to all the members, families, friends and sponsors who turned out in force to marshal, T.O., work and generally help out during the day. They're the reason this event runs so well and is such a success! Special thanks to the Clayton Bay Boat Club for letting us use their facilities once again.
There are 'provisional' times and places for club members up under Results/State Results.
9/11/06.
Only four cyclists turned out for the time trials which were held in a strongish crosswind, that didn't really provide any benefit on any particular section of the course. That still didn't prevent Lynette and Russell from both setting new P.B.'s of 34:18 and 32:00.
Helen recuperating from a cold also set a season P.B. of 36:22, while Scott came in on 29:16 in his first time trial of the season. This Sunday the 19th will see the first triathlon of the season at Clayton Bay. Run by our club, it is now in its third year and has become a major part of the race calendar.
9/11/06.
The second series of the time trials got off to a more serious start tonight, when out of a field of 10 cyclists, 5 P.B.'s were set, 4 of which were best ever T.T. P.B.'s
Lachlan removed a giant 1:45 off his, to 34:38, Andrew L. 1:08, to 32:55, Russell :12, to 32:19, Mark :10, to 33:05, while Allan set a new season P.B. off :18, to 38:12. New rider Amanda Steele clocked in her first course ride at 37:42. Maybe the influx of new bikes set everyone off to a good start, with Andrew, Will, Digby and Greg all turning out on newbies to start off the series. Lynette put in a good start as well, clocking 34:55, just :48 off last year's P.B. Times are up under Results/Club Results /Cycling Time Trial
2/11/06.
The first series of the time trials got off to a good start tonight with 9 cyclists turning out in almost windless conditions. Mark Bloomfield set the pace for the night with the fastest time of 33:29, only :24 seconds off his P.B. from last season - not a bad way to start off the series! Coming in with the second best time was Andrew K. on 34:52. New rider Anthea trialled the 10km course in 24:03, best female time for the 10km course last year was 24:06, - another good start! Asha, Allan, Bruce, Helen, Will and Wally all rode the 20 km course. Times are up under Club Results, click on Time Trials on the left column.
This weekend on Sunday 5th, starting at 8:30am there is a club ride and run [duathlon] training session at the Oakbank racecourse - member's carpark -, details are on the calendar, please check them out for the ride and age requirements. The Meningie Half Ironman got off too a chilly start this morning in Lake Albert where the water temperature registered 14 degrees, and the wearing of wetsuits by all swimmers was made compulsory. The wind on the bike leg came in from a different direction this year which meant that most of the return ride back into Meningie had a tail wind, something that most riders appreciated before they started on their run leg!
With over half the 200 entrants in the triathlon coming from interstate there was a lot more competition than normal and the triathletes from Victoria and N.S.W. had a big impact on the end of day placings.
We had five members racing individual; Scott who was 4th open male and also won the Adam Johnson trophy for first South Australian over the line, Adam who placed 6th in his age group and also qualified for a spot for the Port Macquarie Ironman, Trevor who won his age group and also qualified for a spot, but declined as he is off to do the Busselton Ironman in December and Don who placed 3rd in his age group. Ryan Milton and Peter Franklyn also raced individual, but as of yet haven't got their times.
In the teams we had Dave Taylor in one and Helen and Lin in another.
Donna and Brett put in a full day working down there as T.O.'s and in helping set up the course and manning drink stations - much appreciated!!
Over in Ironman Hawaii, Griff placed 2nd in his age group!
Times are up for individuals at Meningie and I am still waiting on the team times. They can be found under National Results.
8/10/06
Tough conditions made for a hard race in the long course duathlon today. There were strong head winds in both the bike and the run legs, making the bike splits quite a bit slower. Age group winners were; Dave Taylor and Catherine Clohesy. Also competing were; Jarrad Quinn, Mark Bloomfield, Andrew Ketteridge, Ben Clohesy, Daniel Clohesy and Asha Ketteridge. Donna Georg-Dent was race referee. Results are under State Results.
25/9/06

''Australian Scott Green is the new Standard Chartered Ironman Korea Champion''.
I guess that pretty well sums it up! Scott had the race of his life today, in conditions that were far from perfect.. The swim leg was cancelled due to heavy rain, lightning and wind. In the bike leg Scott was in 4th place at the 90km mark and kept on moving up until at the 145km mark he passed Hammerl and took control of the race. From then on he never looked back and he crossed the finish line on 8:09:26, 10:09 minutes in front of the next competitor!.Temp for the day was reported at 38 degrees C !!! There are more details and times of the race under Results/International Results.
As of yet, there are no results/times in for the age group sections, so have no news of how Griff went, but as soon as they are in they'll be posted up!

The X terra held at Cromer today saw a small band of tribesters racing in perfect weather conditions. Nine competitors raced: Ifor, Kevin, Des and Bruce as individuals, and two teams; Allan/Carl/Ian and Asha/Andrew.
The race was run under a handicap format. Ifor and Kevin looked like they were going to have a close race for awhile with Kevin clocking just :02 seconds behind Ifor in the run, and then Ifor broke a crankshaft on his bike and had to pull out in the second loop, leaving Kevin to storm the field alone! The handicaps were well placed as the rest of the field all finished within one or two minutes of each other. Bruce and Asha provided a gripping finale to the end of the race as they raced neck to neck to cross the line in a draw!
After the race Kevin presented Des with a bottle of port in thanks for the terrific job that he did in setting up the club trailer.
The next race will be at Fox Creek on 13/8/06.
Next week, Saturday, 24th is the club AGM and Awards night, followed on Sunday by the Xterra Duathlon at Kuitpo - 25/6/06.

The two mountain bikers raced neck to neck over the whole course from start to finish, while Mark Bloomfield came in third on 56:05. He had the fastest run splits in both run legs, and Mark C. had the fastest bike split.

Saturday's triathlon at Mount Barker was attended by ten tribesters. The afternoon start at 3.30pm provided reasonable racing conditions, with the rain holding off, and almost nil wind. The triathlon was run in an enduro format with competitors electing to complete 1, 2 or 3 circuits of the course which was comprised of; 150mt swim, 5 km bike and a 1.5km run.
Two new members; Ani Shamsynar and Stacy Williams raced for the first time.
In the three circuit event, Ben and Daniel Clohesy had a competitive race with Daniel breaking away over time to win in 1:07:55. Stacy took out line honours for the female section when Leonie withdrew after one circuit due to an ankle injury.
Des competed in a team with Ani and Brett doing the swim legs, while Lachlan and Carl had a close race with Lachlan gaining ground at the end to finish a minute ahead.
In the two circuit event Catherine and Ian both had great races. Their racing skills have improved immensely over this season and we'll look forward to following their progress next season.
Ani put in a great race in her first triathlon ever, and I'm sure she'll be back to race with us again.
Splits are up under Results/Club Results!
note: Several competitors will notice in their bike splits that they must have done an extra lap in the second circuit!
This was the last triathlon to be run by Brett our race director who is standing down in June. We all appreciate the hard work he's put into running the club races over the past few years!!
The next event will be an X terra -MTB- duathlon on the 21st of May at Cromer. It will be organized by Kevin Colla. The X terra events are always great fun and provide some excellent winter X training! Details are up on the calendar!

The last club tri for the season will be held next Saturday at Mount Barker; details on the calendar.
9/4/06
Daniel Clohesy had a great time at the School Championships Triathlon at Portarlington last week in the individual and teams events. He reported that the swim was really cold and choppy, and the bike leg was a hard ride up a hill into a head wind, but that he had a great run in the team event; 4km in 15minutes. It was a lot of fun and he really enjoyed the trip!
30/3/06
The last night of the time trials saw almost perfect conditions for the twelve cyclists who turned up for their final attempt to set a last P.B. A variable head wind up through the vineyards pulled some riders back, but four cyclists set final P.B.'s. Greg Eather on his second 20km ride took off a giant 3:56 to clock 42:18! Des Chabrel reduced his time by 1:53, to clock 38:26, Andrew K. :09 seconds to clock 33:40 and Wally Olenich clocked an equal time to his P.B. of 34:38. The grand finale between Lynette and Helen fell apart when Helen withdrew due to a cold, and Lynette had a blow out in the second lap!
Scott's hopes for an end of season P.B. were dashed when he was held up by a car crossing an intersection, and he crossed the line at 28:37 just :19 seconds off his P.B.
Also riding in their final time trial of the season were; Leonie, Carl, Asha, Allan, Andrew L. and John Graham. Over the whole season from 3/11/05 to 30/3/06, we had a total of 34 riders over the course, the most the club has ever had for a time trial season!
Fastest male and female times in the 20km course went to Scott with 28:18, and Lynette with 34:07.
In the 10km course Cameron Bayly with 15:21, and Dani Korver with 24:06.
Final times can be found under Club Results/Cycling Time Trials.
26/3/06
Race conditions for the 6th and last Gatti triathlon of the season were almost perfect. A flat calm swim, bike leg that started off windless and a run in moderate temperatures.
A total of 12 tribesters competed. Adam Hogan won his age group, as did Alison Ward. Asha Ketteridge and Ben Clohesy both finished off the season by stepping up from the Tinman into their first Challenge event and had great races. Andrew K. and Alison must have had a close race as they both crossed the line in equal time!
Others racing were; Jarrad Quinn, Mark Bloomfield, Daniel Clohesy, Carl Rofe, Carolyn Jones, Peter Franklyn, and Leonie Proctor.
Results are up under Results/State Results.
23/3/06
The second of the last of the time trials drew 11 cyclists out in an attempt to clock up some final P.B.'s. for the season, however a warmish evening and almost windless conditions saw most riders on average clocking a minute or more over on their personal P.B's.
Lynette and Helen came in on 35:10 and 35:13 showing how evenly matched they are, with only :03 seconds separating their finishing times. At this stage Lynette is still out in front with a P.B. of 34:07.
Another close tussle developed between Ryan Milton - out for his first time trial - and Scott as they clocked in at 29:34 and 29:23, :10 seconds apart in finishing times. Scott is still holding the fastest time over the course for this season witha P.B. of 28:18, and Ryan now holds second place with his time of 29:34.
Greg Eather moved up a notch tonight and rode the 20km course for the first time and clocked 46:14. With only a few months cycling behind him he has showed a big improvement during the last month of the time trials. Des Chabrel had a great ride, only :10 seconds off from last weeks time.
With next week being the last time trial for the season, some riders out there will be hoping for that last perfect night!
This weekend will see the last of the Gatti triathlons being held at Westlakes for this 2005/06 season.
In the lost and found, we still haven't had a response to the pump that was left behind at the club's triathlon on Sunday, I guess some one will eventually miss it when they get around to pumping up their tyres!
19/3/06
The second Club Championship saw 19 members competing for their various age group categories today. Alison Ward, Sue Gerrie, Dave Taylor, Ryan Milton and Adam Hogan all raced in a local club event for the first time this season, and their attendance pushed up the level of competition, leaving no room for anyone to relax. Ryan clocked fastest time with 43:26 and fastest bike split of 22:00. Scott clocked the second fastest on 44:03, and Jason third, back in form with 44:24, plus fastest run split of 15:44. Michael clocked fastest swim of 5:05!
Age group winners were; Helen, Alison, Sue, Dave, Jason, Michael, Ryan, Scott, Simon and Ian in the short course.
Also racing in the mini were; Sophie Jones, Madelaine Jones and Ryder Taylor.
Splits are up under Results/Club Results.
Thanks to all those who came along to support and marshal.
16/3/06
Tonight's time trial showed that the race for P.B.'s is a long way from over. Out of the 10 riders who finished the course 5 clocked P.B.'s and Ralph equalled his. This is the highest numbers of P.B.'s to be set in one night during this year's time trials.
Weather conditions were cold with a slight cross tail wind on the down leg, and a head wind up through the vineyards.
Scott cemented his position as leader of the field with a new P.B. of 28:18, [:08 seconds], Helen 34:13, [:09 seconds], Lachlan 36:23, [:09 seconds] Des 40:29 [1:19] on what must be the last new bike for the season, and Greg had a great ride in the 10km, 23:20, [2:00].
Asha had the misfortune to blow out a front tyre in the first kilometre, and Will came out for a training ride.
Others riding were; Leonie, Lynette, and Andrew K. With just two trials to go Lynette is hanging on to the fastest women's time by :06 seconds! In the men's division Cameron and Ralph are separated in the 2nd and 3rd places by :47 seconds!
13/3/06
In the Weetbix Kid's triathlon at Westlakes on the weekend there were over 400 kids who turned out to compete . Racing for the club were: Ben and Catherine Clohesy, Eleahn Georg-Dent, Ian Cox and Sophie Jones. Down at Victor Harbour, there was a camp for the State Schools Triathlon team. Representing our club were: Michael Plunkett, Jason Bartram, Jo Hombsch and Daniel Clohesy.
Two other club members, John Graham and Shane Johnson competed in the S.A. Police and Emergency Service games at the weekend, where they both picked up a swag of medals and set some new P.B.'s.
With the extension of daylight saving, the club's time trials will be extended for an extra week, which takes the last night up to the 30th of March. So far in the twenty km trial we have had a total of 30 riders, and with only 3 more rides to go, riders will be hoping for some excellent conditions so they can clock a final P.B. for the season.
This Sunday the 19th, the 'Club Championships' triathlon will be held at the Woodside pool, starting time 9.00am, details on the calendar.
10/3/06
Twelve cyclists turned out in near ideal conditions for the time trials last night, and several riders clocked new P.B.'s. Lynette had a great ride with a new P.B. of 34:07 - :54 seconds faster- which takes her up into first place for the women's division. Russell also clocked a new P.B. of 32:31, which was 1:09 faster than his previous best. Digby came in on 35:08, a :12 second improvement, while Andrew celebrated his 'birthday' with an equal to his P.B. of 33:49.
Des Chabrel and Carl both rode the course for the first time with times of 41:48 and 42:38.
The autumn weather should provide some excellent conditions for riders to round off the season with some last minute P.B.'s
With the Commonwealth games on in Melbourne, daylight saving is going to be extended, so we should be able to extend the time trials here by a couple of more weeks. We'll let you now when we get some dates in!
The Weetbix kid's triathlon is on this weekend down at Westlakes, details on the calendar.
5/3/06

The time trials tonight only drew five cyclists out into the hot and windy weather, and with the Victor Harbour triathlon on this Saturday perhaps everyone is taking it easy! No new P.B.'s were recorded, tho' Leonie and Asha put on a sprint finish to cap off the night. Times are up under Cycling Time Trials.
Good luck to all and sundry who are heading off down to Victor for Saturday's tri. It's always a great event and one of the highlights of the S.A. triathlon year and is well worth the effort if you can make it down!.

23/2/06
Another record gathering of cyclists - 14 - turned up tonight to ride in what started out as a promising windless night, and then at around the 10km mark, a change moved in creating gusty head winds along the road to the finish line.
A number of cyclists had hoped to set new P.B.'s but the change soon put an end to their hopes.
However Helen, riding the course on her 'training'' bike fitted with a borrowed set of tri bars, slashed :21 seconds off her old P.B. to set a new time of 34:22, maintaining her hold as the leading female rider so far for the season. Lynette on her third night out also set a another new P.B. of 35:01, :12 seconds off her previous.
Lin Green rode the course for the first time this season with a time of 38:42.. Ralph has finally come around and treated himself to a new set of tri bars, and John changed back to his time trial bike in an attempt to break his P.B.
With only a month remaining there will be some serious attempts to set new P.B.'s over the next few weeks!
As of next week the Time Trials will revert back to the start time of 6:15pm!!!!!!!
This Saturday the club tri is on at Woodside town pool, start time at 4.00pm
20/2/06
Four tribesters made their way down to the Kingston triathlon on Sunday, and as usual for Kingston, there was a very windy bike leg. Scott was the only competitor to ride the bike split in under an hour - 57:45 - and with this advantage, he went on into the run to take out first place!! That makes a first in each of the last four State events. Not bad!
Dave Taylor won his age group, as did Trevor Skewes, while Leonie came 5th in her age group in the Short course.
Several tribesters rode in the 'coast to coast' on Sunday. Well done to Helen, Ryan Milton, Lynette Collins, Russell Johnstone, and Kay Sutton.
This Saturday the 25th, at 4.00pm the club will be holding the February triathlon at the Woodside town pool - it will be a handicap event. Details on the Calendar. On Sunday the 26th there is a Gatti triathlon on at Westlakes, and at Somerton there are two Long swims [2km/4km] and an Aquathon being run from the 'new' Somerton SLSC.
16/2/06
The Time trials tonight saw yet another record number of 13 cyclists turning out to ride the 20km and 10km courses. In the 20km course, new rider Russell Johnstone from Williamstown turned up for his first ride of the season and came in at 33:40. The wind was coming in with a cross tail wind on the leg to Charleston and a slight headwind up through the vineyards, but the warmish conditions took the edge of most riders, with no new P.B.'s being set. John Graham on a 'brand new bike' set the fastest time for the course with 33:02.
However in the 10km course it was another story with Dani setting a P.B. of 24:06, and condolences have to go to Jason and Michael, as Cameron set a new 10km course record tonight of 15:26 - 2:20 faster than the previous record! All times are up under Results/Cycling Time Trials.
Re the Kingston triathlon this weekend, good luck to everyone who is heading down for the weekend - have a great race!
13/2/06
The Sam White Memorial State Sprint Championships for 2006 were held yesterday and several Tribe triathletes showed some excellent form, most notably, Scott Green who won the elite men's race, giving him his second consecutive win of this event.
Others who raced well were; Shane Johnson 4th OM, Michael Plunkett 4th JEM, Jarrad Quinn 5th JEM and Lin Green 1st in his age group. Also competing were; Carl Rofe and Steve Georg-Dent. In the Short; Jason Bartram made a triumphant return to racing with a win in his age group and probably the fastest time overall! Ashlea Bartram also won her age group, as did Catherine and Daniel Clohesy. Eleahn Georg-Dent and Ben Clohesy also competed. There are some provisional results up on the Results page and official results and times will be posted as soon as ESP publish them.
9/2/06
Ten cyclists turned out tonight for the Time Trials. A cross tail wind on the leg down to Charleston created a strong head wind up through the vineyards. Riding tonight for the first time were; Lachlan Ambrose: 36:32, and Lynette Collins: 35:13. No new P.B.'s were set in the 20km course, though John Graham came within :08 secs of his P.B.

Next Sunday - 12/02/06 - , the State Distance Championships will be run by ESP at Westlakes. Details on the calendar!
2/2/06
A record number of 12 cyclists turned out tonight for the Time Trials at Woodside. The wind was variable, but seemed to favour the Charleston leg again with a tailwind which helped some riders to new P.B.'s
New riders were: Rob Lewis, Dani Korver, Greg and William Eather and Jason Bartram.
Jason, Dani and Greg all did the 10km course, with Jason on a 'new bike' setting a new course record of 17:47. Dani 32:20 and Greg 31:10 finished with reasonable results for their first time trials, considering that they both had a little trouble on the way round the course.
In the 20km course Leonie hit the road with a 'new bike' and new P.B. of 44:20.
[that must make about 5 or 6 'new bikes' we've seen out this year amongst tribesters!] Michael set the best time for the night with a new P.B. on his second ride for the season with 32:00, which puts him into 5th place overall. William Eather came in second with 33:04; a good start to his time trial season. So far this season we've had a total of 28 riders over the course!
Don't forget that this Sunday, there is a Gatti triathlon down at Westlakes.
29/1/06
Numbers were down slightly at the club tri this morning. The weather put a few off and some members were probably having a layoff after the Australia Day triathlon. In all 19 tribesters turned out to compete, and the weather held off to provide some excellent racing conditions. In the Mini, Zach, Kurtis, Hayley and Ryder all had a great race.
The Short course event saw six members racing, with the Clohesy brothers having a very tight race, with Daniel coming in first, and Ben just :32 seconds behind. New member Greg Eather raced for the first time, and Ian Cox put in a great bike leg. With the girls, Catherine came in first and Eleahn second. It was a bit hard to pick the best swim time with the three Clohesy siblings all exiting the pool within one second of each other.
Best ride time went to Daniel and best run to Ben.
In the Sprint distance there were 9 competitors with William Eather and Cameron Bayly racing for the first time.
Leonie came in first female on 1:13:34, with Donna second on 1:16:57
Steve recorded the fastest swim at 5:51, Cameron the fastest bike at 23:15 and Mark fastest run at 16:02. Mark was also first in with a total time of 47:16, Cameron second at 48:45 and Steve third on 54:42.
All times and splits can be found under RESULTS/Club Results.
Thanks to everyone who helped out with the marshalling!
Check out the Calendar for the next club race which will be a handicap event based on today's times! There is also a Gatti tri coming up this next Sunday.
26/1/06
Twenty two club members competed in the Australia Day triathlons held at Westlakes today in extremely hot conditions. In the Olympic distance, Scott took out first place in the open, and Jarrad Quinn was the first JEM. Trevor Skewes was also first in his age group and Mark Bloomfield raced his first Olympic distance tri.
In the Tinman, Andrew Ketteridge claimed a first in his age group.
Competing in the Mini were, Catherine Clohesy and Eleahn Georg-Dent.
There are preliminary results up under Results/State Results.
In the Time Trials, only three cyclists turned up to ride in what was probably the first real head wind we've had on the leg down to Charleston. The later starting time of 6:45pm meant that at least the worst of the heat of the day had passed.
Michael Plunkett rode for the first time and the head wind had little effect on his riding performance, as he clocked a first time of 32:37, which places him sixth overall - not bad for his first ride in less than ideal conditions!
This Sunday we have a club tri at the Woodside pool starting at 9:00am. Details on the calendar.
19/1/06
Six cyclists turned up tonight for the time trials. Weather conditions were hot, with a slight tailwind on the leg down to Charleston. Riding were; Andrew K., Asha, Cameron, Tim, Andrew L. and Don. No new P.B.'s were set, and Cameron set a new 'leisure ride' time of 36:12 in preparation for tomorrow's 153km 'Be Active' ride. As January and February are usually quite hot months, the time trials will now start at the new time of 6:45pm until the end of February.
Good luck to all those riding in the 'Be Active' ride tomorrow, drink heaps!!
15/1/06
Results are up for the Lakers Aquathon - all female -which was held at Westlakes today and was well attended. Both Leonie and Dani competed, with Dani winning the 16-17 age group. Well done! Results can be found under State Results.
12/1/06
The time trials tonight were well attended by 13 cyclists. A strongish tail wind down to Charleston offset the head winds up through the vineyards, and several riders clocked their best times yet for the season. Asha led the way on a 'new bike' and slashed 2:32 off her old P.B. to clock 39:11. Ian Cox put in an excellent ride completing the whole course for the first time in 43:36and also out tonight on her first ride was Fiona Pledger. Digby took :05 seconds off, Wally :02 seconds, Ralph :14 seconds and Cameron set the best time for the night and a new P.B. with 30:16, 1:35 better than his previous time, and which now places him in second place, and 1:50 behind Scott.
Others riding were; Bruce, Andrew K. Kevin, Leonie and Helen, who had the bad luck to encounter a bee on the first loop around!
It's all go at the moment for cycling. The Australian Open Road Championships are being held at Mount Torrens, on Friday, and on Saturday. They should provide some great viewing. Next week the Tour down Under starts and as usual the club will be meeting on Tuesday night opposite the Brewery apartments on Dequetteville Terrace to watch the circuit race, and again on Sunday on Montefiore Hill to watch the last stage. Details are on the Calendar.
The 'brick bat' run session was well attended last Wednesday, and in two weeks time on the 25th at the Oakbank Race course - member's car park - following a light run training session, the club will provide an Australia Day sausage sizzle, from 6.30pm. All welcome to attend; running or not running!
9/1/06
The two triathlons held over the weekend at Euston and Westlakes saw a total of 20 tribesters competing in the two events. The Euston tri was held in gruelling 31-34 degree heat and saw a new format used; swim/bike/run/bike/run.
Scott raced well in the elite placing 2nd, while Helen made a return to the race scene and placed 5th. Trevor and Sue both claimed a first in the age group sector.
Shane Johnson pulled a calf muscle in the run and pulled out, and Dave Taylor scored a flat tyre in the bike leg and pulled out as well.
A 3km swim was also held on the Saturday where Helen came 2nd and Trevor Skewes won his age group.
Back in Adelaide at the Gatti tri, over 260 entrants turned out to compete. Fourteen tribesters raced, with Mark Bloomfield putting in a great performance when he placed 22nd over all. Asha made a return to triathlon racing in the Tinman event, where Steve and Allan both claimed firsts, and Ben Clohesy continued his successful step up into the Tinman sector with a 4th place.
In the Mini; Daniel and Catherine both came in first over the line for their respective age groups and Eleahn placed 3rd.
Full results are up under Results/State Results.

Five cyclists rode out tonight for the first time trial for 2006. Weather conditions were quite reasonable with a tail wind down to Charleston and a cross/head wind up through the vineyards. Riding were; Asha, Andrew, Ian Cox, MarkB., Kevin, and Bruce did a lap as well. Ian did the 10km course, his first for the season and clocked 23:21, :58 seconds better than last year -a great start to his season .

Just goes to show what a bit of rest can do!

Also coming up next week, the Australian Open Road Cycling Championships are being held on the 11th,13th & 14th at Mount Torrens - should be a chance to see some top cyclists in action!
29/12/05
Six cyclist turned out tonight to ride in the last time trial for 2005. Conditions were hot, and a slight cross head wind on the road to Charleston took the edge off most riders times.
Wally had a great ride taking :21 seconds of his P.B. to clock 34:38 and Simon Thomas rode for the first time this season in 32:05, just :27 seconds of last year's P.B..
Also riding were Andrew, Asha, Mark B. and John.
22/12/05
The time trials tonight saw seven cyclists turning out to race in warm conditions. Ralph set a new P.B. taking :34seconds off his previous time, and placing him in second position for the season so far, with a time of 31:17.
The Tribe Triathlon club would like to wish all club members and supporters a 'Happy Xmas' and we hope that 2006 is going to be a great year for you all, with lots of fun, new adventures, and of course some great races. Have a great break and take it easy!
11/12/05
The Xmas triathlon held at the Woodside town pool yesterday was well attended by club members and their families. A team format was used for the first time, which meant that each team member raced a different discipline in each of the three consecutive events. A captain was selected for each team and the other two team members were then selected in a 'lucky draw.' As each event finished, a handicap start was worked out for the next one. Teams who put their heads together at the start and worked out their tactics in advance did very well.
The victorious team consisting of; Scott 'Rocket' Green, Tim 'Bullet' Bolton and Asha 'Atom Bomb' Ketteridge, had their tactics down pat, as they got off to a slow start and ended up storming the field!
Club members and their families finished off the day with a BBQ in the pool grounds.
Thanks to all who marshalled and to Trish Korver and Ashlea Bartram for time keeping and working out the handicaps.
Results are up, plus some preliminary ones for the TriSA triathlon of 11/12/05
TriSA triathlon was well attended by all accounts. Daniel and Ben Clohesy raced, along with Dani Korver and Trevor Skewes, while Donna Georg-Dent worked as a technical officer, - thanks to the other club members who volunteered as marshals!
8/12/05
Eight cyclists turned out tonight for the time trials. A cross tail wind to Charleston helped riders on the down leg, but set them back on the roads up back through the vineyards. P.B.'s were set by Leonie who knocked off another :04 secs, Damon took off a giant 3:12 minutes, and Tim had a big gain also with a 2:28 improvement on his time.
New rider for the season Wally Olenich will keep Mark B. and Andrew K. alert, as they all finished within :06 secs of each other, while Helen clocked her second best time.
Time Trial results are up under Results/Tribe Club Results/Cycling Time Trials

First timers tonight were; Tim Bolton, Kevin Colla and Damon Dungey, while Allan, Mark B., Leonie and John turned out as well. Kevin put in the fastest time of 33:09 to pip John by a narrow :06 seconds. Leonie made the best of the weather conditions and all her training kicked in to give her a new P.B. for the course! The second Clayton Bay triathlon was held today in near windless conditions which led to much faster times over the course than in last year's triathlon. In the closely contested race amongst the men's elite section, Scott Green came in first, crossing the line just :15 seconds in front of Matt White. In the women's elite section, Maria Kosztovits made a come back to triathlon and claimed first place, followed in by Sarah Cox. In the junior elite males, Chris Rawling and Rory Dyus placed first and second, while in the females, Carlee Taylor and Sophie Ootes placed first and second.
Results in detail can be found by clicking on the Clayton Bay link above. There are links for Results-Overall, for Results-Category and for Results-Spits.
Overall there were 129 individuals competing, and 17 teams, including 7 teams from the Schools Challenge.

17/11/05
Perfect conditions tonight created the setting for a new course record. Scott came in on 28:26, slashing :58 seconds of last years best time. We had eleven cyclists out tonight, one of the biggest fields we've seen, no doubt drawn by the lure of setting a P.B.
Out for the first time this season were; Bruce, Digby, Allan, Scott, with Helen, Leonie, Asha, Andrew K. John, Martin and Mark turning out as well. Time Trial results are up under Results/Tribe Club Results/Cycling Time Trials

10/11/05
After wet and blustery conditions all day, the weather cleared long enough for Helen, Martin Risbey and Mark B. to complete the time trial ride with out being rained on. Martin was first in with a time of 33:43 followed by Mark on 34:59, while Helen had the misfortune to have a gear cable break in the early stage of the ride, leaving her with limited options in the hills. A strong cross wind gave advantage on the down leg, but then turned the ride into hard going as they came back up toward Lobethal. Time Trial results are up under Results/Tribe Club Results/Cycling Time Trials
3/11/05
The first session of the time trials got off to a great start this evening with seven cyclists turning out to ride the 20km course in near perfect conditions - there was just the slightest of tail winds going down to Charleston. Leonie Proctor rode the course for the first time, and put in a great ride. Two new members also joined up for their first ride as well and started off right up front, - with a first and second best time , - setting the pace for the coming season on their first night out! Cameron Bayly a promising junior cyclist rode into equal first [ 31:51] with club veteran of the time trials, Ralph Dowdell - he came 2nd last year and John Graham, our other new member came in with the second best time, [34:43] on his first club time trial.
Also turning up on the first night, were Asha and Andrew Ketteridge, and Mark Bloomfield, who will be another one to watch for this season, now that he's swapped his MTB for a new road bike. This year's time trials are already off to a promising start, and with five more months to go it looks like we'll be seeing some new course records set for the 2005/06 season. Last year Scott Green set best time at 29:24 and Ralph second at 30:50 Time Trial results are up under Results/Tribe Club Results/Cycling Time Trials Last year's results are under Results/Archives.
