Ironman Korea: Jeju 27/8/06
RACETIME: 08:08
''Australian Scott Green is the new Standard Chartered Ironman Korea Champion''.
The weather in Jeju today came in extremely rough with wind, heavy rain and lightning, result of which the swim leg was cancelled owing to the height of the waves. The race was shortened to just bike and run, with a cutoff time of 14 hours and 40 minutes. Competitors started 2 at a time in 5 second intervals. Scott was in 4th place at 90kms. At 3:47hrs into the race, 145km into the bike leg he was in 1st place with Hammerl just behind. At 4:44hrs they both entered transition together, and Scott left just in front. Shortly after this Hammerl dropped out and Scott kept increasing his lead on the rest of the field so that by the time he reached the 30km section of the run he was right out in front with a 15 minute lead. As the commentator said;
