PRESIDENTS REPORT
Digby welcomed all members and their families and reported on the progress and activities of the club during the past year.
''Membership has increased to 77 despite the closure of the Inverbrackie pool, but the club hoped to have some good news re the possible re availability of this facility shortly.
Clayton Bay triathlon is now an important feature on the TriSA calendar and had been acknowledged with an upgrade to a big 6 race. Congratulations to Brett and his team. POD2 have come on board as the new naming right sponsors.
The club has invested some of the profits from this event into the purchase of windtrainers for members use, and upgraded equipment such as the trailer and signage. A new cycling uniform reflecting our new club sponsors -Adelaide Hills Cycles- is currently on order. The club was pleased to be able to give financial assistance to our juniors; Daniel, Jason, Michael and Jo who competed at the Australian Schools championship in Victoria.
We had many members, both junior and senior who competed in club and state series events; Scott was particularly successful in winning several state elite titles. As well several juniors were successful in the state series as well as our age groupers. Congratulations to Donna Geog-Dent for being awarded the T.O. of the year.
Club triathlons had a good attendance with many first timers participating, however the level of participation in the X terras haven't done justice to the work put in by X terra race director Kevin Colla and his family. These events are run for the club and race directors could lose their enthusiasm if the event are not supported.
Committee members organized a bike maintenance course and the club recently enjoyed a trip to the Super-Dome and a session at the Mount Barker gym. Other triathlon orientated sessions being planned for the future are; advanced bike maintenance and physiotherapy. On the social side we had film night, Tour de France party at Rob & Deb Lewis's house, and various BBQ's.
Our current race director, Brett Hart is retiring and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Brett for excellent races and thank him for his work. Brett will continue with the Clayton Bay triathlon. Our club triathlons are the most important events run by the club, they are the heart of the club and enable triathletes of all ages to have fun and compete in a non pressure environment. No other club in S.A. runs these events on a regular basis. The position of club race director is now vacant and the committee would love to discuss this with any interested member.
Finally I would like to thank the committee for all their work and support, and with some retiring from the committee this year I would welcome any members who would like to take a more active role in the club.''
Digby Ambrose - Tribe President.
